Yumi Osanai is working within the field of dance, choreography and performing art. She is based in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, France, working in internationally. Her artistic practice from performing in works by others, creating her own work to collaborate creations. Her passion is to inspire, captivate, empower, educate, create and build community through her performance and a workshop.

From 2015 to 2016 she received a grant from the POLA ARTS FOUNDATION to research her project ‘fieldworks’ in Brussels Belgium. By trying to get the spectators to realize their own structure of thought and the concepts behind it, they become susceptible to the hidden realities/identities in their daily life. She researches the possibilities of this susceptibility by exploring the boundaries of the space, the importance of the distance between performers, the audience. She also collaborated with a sound artist to blur the audience’s memory during the performance. From this research the experimental performance ‘Hidden Sense’ (2016) was created. After that, she collaborated with Boriana Todorova to continue her research, then Toripkodoune(2018) was performed in Brussels Belgium.

As a performer Yumi have been working with different groups and choreographers such as Sakiko Oshima/H.R.Chaos, Yuri Furuie/Project OYAMA, Kim Sung Yong/MOO-E, Heine Avdal&Yukiko Shinozaki/fieldworks, Ro KyungAe, Ferenc Feher, Toshiko Oiwa/Vision Project and Ehsan Hemart etc.
Yumi is involved in different collaborations in the Japanese and international art field. In the recent years, she have been working with Roeland Luyten(Sound Artist), Virginie Moly(Visual Artist), and Boriana Todorova(Actress).
